Black women in the United States are three times more likely to die in childbirth or from a pregnancy-related cause than White women. The Black Birth-Workers Documentary is under development by a team of Black queer women seeking to investigate the factors that drive these disparities and archive the contributions of Black midwives, doulas, gynecologists, and other Black birth-workers. On September 1st, they started their cross-country journey to collect stories for the project and are fundraising to cover travel costs and production for the film. They're currently close to 50% of the $50,000 goal with 18 days remaining on their crowdfunding campaign. Today's action is to contribute (if you can) to their IFundWomen campaign or share their project on social media to drive more awareness around their work.
