Yesterday the Texas House Democrats fled the state to prevent quorum on a vote that would severely limit voting rights. They traveled as a group to Washington DC amongst threats from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to arrest them when they come home. Though some may call it a stunt, their trip to the nation’s capital is a targeted campaign for Senate Democrats to use their majority to abolish the filibuster and pass a slate of liberal legislation, including voting rights. Today’s action is to call or email Arizona Senators Krysten Sinema and Mark Kelly and West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin to ask them to support abolishing the filibuster. All three Democratic Senators have either outright stated their opposition to ending the filibuster, or in the case of Kelly, refused to take a position on the issue, which itself is a blocker to progress.
